En un importante avance hacia la autonom\u00eda estrat\u00e9gica en materia de defensa, el Ministro de Defensa, Pedro S\u00e1nchez, ha confirmado que Colombia se prepara para la fabricaci\u00f3n de un nuevo fusil que sustituir\u00e1 al Galil de origen israel\u00ed, el cual ha estado en uso en el pa\u00eds durante m\u00e1s de 30 a\u00f1os. Este nuevo armamento ser\u00e1 producido por Indumil y tendr\u00e1 un costo superior a 4 millones de pesos por unidad, seg\u00fan fuentes militares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El Ministro S\u00e1nchez detall\u00f3 que el nuevo fusil, dise\u00f1ado con materiales de pol\u00edmero, ofrecer\u00e1 una mayor flexibilidad y ligereza para los combatientes, permitiendo as\u00ed un mejor desempe\u00f1o en el campo. \u00abEsto no solo reducir\u00e1 costos, sino que tambi\u00e9n ampliar\u00e1 nuestras capacidades\u00bb, afirm\u00f3 el funcionario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adem\u00e1s, destac\u00f3 que este proyecto est\u00e1 alineado con los objetivos del presidente de la Rep\u00fablica, quien ha enfatizado la necesidad de diversificar las capacidades de la fuerza p\u00fablica. \u00abNuestra fuerza continuar\u00e1 fortaleci\u00e9ndose para proteger a los colombianos\u00bb, agreg\u00f3 el ministro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Es importante se\u00f1alar que el Galil, que ha sido ensamblado en Colombia desde que se obtuvo la patente de Israel, presenta limitaciones en su producci\u00f3n local, ya que dos de sus componentes esenciales, el ca\u00f1\u00f3n y la mira nocturna, deben ser adquiridos exclusivamente a Israel, lo que ha restringido la posibilidad de buscar proveedores alternativos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
