El Senado de la Rep\u00fablica ha sido escenario de un emotivo homenaje a uno de los deportistas m\u00e1s emblem\u00e1ticos de Colombia y oriundo de Monter\u00eda: Miguel \u00abHappy\u00bb Lora. Esta semana se conmemoran 40 a\u00f1os de su hist\u00f3rica victoria que lo coron\u00f3 campe\u00f3n mundial de boxeo, un logro que el Congreso ha decidido celebrar imponi\u00e9ndole la m\u00e1xima distinci\u00f3n de la corporaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Este reconocimiento es un tributo m\u00e1s que merecido a quien no solo llev\u00f3 el nombre de Colombia a la cima del deporte mundial, sino que se consolid\u00f3 como un \u00edcono del boxeo y un ejemplo de perseverancia y talento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trayectoria de un Campe\u00f3n:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miguel \u00abHappy\u00bb Lora, nacido en Monter\u00eda el 11 de enero de 1961, se destac\u00f3 en la categor\u00eda de peso gallo. Su carrera profesional, que inici\u00f3 en 1981, estuvo marcada por una racha impresionante de victorias. El 31 de agosto de 1985, en el Olympic Auditorium de Los \u00c1ngeles, California, Lora hizo historia al derrotar a Daniel Zaragoza por decisi\u00f3n un\u00e1nime, conquistando as\u00ed el t\u00edtulo mundial del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo (CMB) en la categor\u00eda de peso gallo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Durante su reinado como campe\u00f3n, \u00abHappy\u00bb Lora defendi\u00f3 su t\u00edtulo en varias ocasiones, enfrentando a rivales de gran calibre y demostrando una t\u00e9cnica depurada, una gran fortaleza mental y un esp\u00edritu de lucha inquebrantable. Su estilo aguerrido y su carisma lo convirtieron en un \u00eddolo para miles de colombianos, quienes vibraban con cada una de sus peleas. ‘Happy’ Lora, se retir\u00f3 del boxeo profesional en 1988, dejando un legado imborrable en el deporte nacional. Su conquista del t\u00edtulo mundial no solo represent\u00f3 un triunfo personal, sino que inspir\u00f3 a una generaci\u00f3n de deportistas colombianos a perseguir sus sue\u00f1os y a demostrar que, con dedicaci\u00f3n y esfuerzo, se pueden alcanzar las m\u00e1s altas metas.
